9 Feb 2008 - Nailsea 5 V's Burnham 17
Another very disappointing performance from the Ravens. Sadly beaten by a better side on the day. The all around quality, aggression and determination of the Burnham side was greater than that of the Ravens who looked soft and predictable.
Its easy to talk a good game but today was one of those when performance mattered. The talkers didn’t come good and Burnham dominated. Only Jack Quick really looked up to the contest he repeatedly knocked over the former Tongan captain, Elisi Vunipola and disrupted his play. However the Burnham inside centre was also a class act and far to often caused the Ravens defence to many problems. Probably stronger everywhere other than the lineout Burnham never looked in trouble. They had a good score against them when Nailsea created quick ball from a ruck hit blind first and then opened the game to the wide side for Jason Patch to score. That was it. The ball created was never quick and the distribution was poor. The defence was non existent as repeatedly Burnham went through lightweight Nailsea tackling. Take nothing away from Burnham there pack outscrummaged Nailseas and the 9,10,12 combination was far superior to anything Nailsea had.
Not a good day for the expectant supporters. Now there is a massive challenge for the players to contend with “Themselves”
I wait with bated breath for the next instalment.
Try - Jason patch
