8 Mar 2008 - Winscombe 3rds10 - Nailsea and Backwell 2nds 23

Nailsea once again won the toss and chose to use the conditions to their favour. Despite a couple of penalties from the ever dependable Nathan Dowling, Winscombe rallied and scored from a tap penalty with Nailsea defending poorly.

Despite having the wind in their favour, Nailsea realy struggled to put anything together or,just as they threatened to open Winscombe up, the pass or handling would go astray. Try as they could,  the frustration started to show and an impressive penalty increased the home side's lead to 10-6 at half time.

Nailsea rallied straight from the kick off and a impressive run from winger Mick Watkin from deep inside his own half ,set up a great drive and passing move which Ben Jackson on the opposite wing ran in from 20 metres.

Nailsea suddenly found that extra gear and with their scrummaging always on top, the gaps started to appear and soon a 40metre rolling maul allowed Pete Hamlin to go in under the posts for a very hotly contested try.

Despite Winscombe now having the wind behind them, the Gladiators ran everything back and another superb driving maul into the corner allowed Scott Farrer making an impressive man of the match debut at Flanker to score. Winscombe tried but Nailsea never let them enter their 22 again even.

Another fantastic performance and again the past few weeks training seem to have paid some real dividends.
