30 Mar 2008 - Nailsea U14's V's Dings

Nailsea & Backwell kicked off on a heavy pitch, with both sides testing each other in the early exchanges with strong running and big tackles from forwards and backs alike. Dings looked dangerous in attack, and only several last ditch tackles from fullback Miles Pillay kept the hosts at bay.  As half time approached, from a scrum,  fly half Jack Fairs made a clean break to touch down for a fine opening score.  Half time and 0-7 to the visitors.

Dings opened the second half with a good passage of play, moving the ball wide to score in the corner. Stung by the reverse, Nailsea replied with a series of forward drives from Sumair Saleem and Henry Ivall, taking play to the Dings line.  From a 5 metre line out, big Elliott Cheesright stole the Dings throw to crash over and open a 5-12 lead. Next it was scrum half and skipper Mitch Spencer who was the link man, releasing livewire centre Mackenzie McCormick who won the race for his kick ahead to touch down under the sticks.

A quickly taken tap penalty enabled Cheesright to make good ground, the momentum was continued by centre Matt Wilson and prop Will Tobin before McCormick was in support to burst over from close range. Final score 5-22, and the squad back to winning ways, full credit to Dings who tackled and competed to the final whistle.
