Winscombe 5 - Nailsea & Backwell 3

In this the first of three games Nailsea were asleep for the opening 5 minutes allowing Winscombe 2 easy tries.  In the second half Nailsea began to show promise with tries from Ross Stephen, Jack Davidson and Same Iles.  Unfortunatley the stronger running from Winscombe and slack Nailsea tackling resulted in a 5-3 loss for Nailsea.

In the second game Nailsea were again rather sluggish, lacking conviction.  Where as Winscombe rucked, mauled and ran the ball with skill.  With Nailsea 4-0 down at half time changes were make and they finally began to win and use some ball with more aggression. Nailsea had far more possession which led to their only try by Sam Pain however they still ended on the wrong side of a 5-1 result.

The final game Nailsea again failed to play rugby in the first half  turning around 4-0 down.  Fortunately the second half  was very different with Nailsea finally winning and using the ball as we know they can.  Their aggression and skill finally shone through with Henry Jaggard and Sam Iles twice scoring quality tries.  Unfortunately the poor first half allowed Winscombe a further 4-3 win.
