20 Oct 2007 - Seconds take tight win right to the wire

After the last couple of weeks poor travelling woes Nailsea finally found some respite to their poor run. Despite the excellent atmosphere due to Nailsea pink ladies day Nailsea really struggled to wake and started off well of the pace. Sulians who also had recently put together some good results put Nailsea under the cosh from the start and within ten minutes had used their pacey winger to score in the corner. slowly Nailsea worked themselves back into the game but still struggled to push Sulians out of Nailsea's own half. Despite intense pressure from the visitors Nailsea's defence stoutly held out and some amazing forward work from Nailsea's light pack helped keep Sulians down to just a kicked penalty. As the game progressed Nailsea began to believe that despite being 8-0 down at half time everything was to play for. Nailsea front row of Steve's (Izod ,Harris and Gillard) showed with some fantastic counter rucking that every ball was winable. With Nuttal and Stokes strong running and ball carrying old Sulians started to give away a raft of penalties which Adam Morris punished at every opportunity to put Nailsea 9-8 up. With Nailsea now dominating in all area's a fantastic through the hands move allowed young winger Chris Quinn to shrug of five tackles to score on his debut. Phil his dad playing at fly half was the first to congratulate his son( the fastest he has ever run)with a hug and a kiss. Sulians never gave up and despite Morris adding another penalty Sulians scored at the death to keep the scores tight. Special mention to Nailsea's man of the match Steve Izod who pink hair really bought out the best of him in all area's.
