27 Oct 2007 - Nailsea II v's Walcot III
Nailsea's woefull away record continued although the score line did not
give a true reflection of how the game progressed. Nailsea started off
badly with a a weakend side through sessonal illness and injuries and
within 5 minutes had to bring on both their subs due to injuries. This once
again throwing off what balance Nailsea had produced in previous weeks.
Walcott showed with superb hands in very wet and blustery conditions what
damage could be done at their own set pieces. Despite Nailsea amazing
scrummaging power Walcott managed on various occasions to work the blind
and some good scullduggery to fashion a few scoring postions. Nailsea never
gave up and despite conceding four first half trys. Even when Nailsea
worked their way into Walcotts half they always managed to conceed with a
number of unforced errors. Walcott always looking to use the blind........
managed to fashion again at least two scoring postions. Some valiant
tackling from Andy Kingston and some last ditch try saving tackling from
Nailsea man of the match Steve Gillard always kept Nailsea on a competitive
footing. Nailsea did score with a penalty from Nathan Dowling but always
just struggled to stay inside the Walcott 22. Special mention to Andy
Simmonds who returned after five weeks away who never let his head or work
rate drop.
