On a another fine day in Nailsea Nailsea's yo-yo form continued against a pacey Youthfull Winscombe side. Nailsea started pushing hard from the kick off and Nailsea soon had Winscombe pinned inside their own half. Nailsea's forward continued their dominance in the scrums by once again winning all of the set piece ball. With Nailsea running through the phases and Nailsea backs opening up at every oppertunity Nailsea soon crashed over from five meters with Simon Ford finnishing clinically. Nailsea failed to convert but continued to press with Jim Milton crashing one over from the back of the scrum. A reluctant Steve Gillard took over the kicking duties and converted . Despite Scott Davie , Chris Betts and Andy Brindle constantly breaking through, Winscombe defended valiantly and Nailsea went in 12-0 up at half time. With the slope now to their advantage Nailsea stepped up the pace and Darren Shinnett crashed over from a tap penalty. From another scrummage Matt Lacey raced through from the blind to add another and Steve Gillard converted both. Darren Shinnett rounded off a superb through the hands move that saw both the forwards and backs interlinking and him touching down in the corner. Winscombe never gave up and really deserved a score but Nailsea concentration held to finnish the game with their best try that saw them run the ball from their 22 and Matt lacey to pop up on the wing and speed through to give Gillard his easest kick. Special mention goes to Nailsea Man of the match Chris Betts who strong direct running and tackling gave Winscombes young backs nightmares all afternoon.
