11 Nov 2007 - Nailsea Quinnstars 50 Old Reds 4ths 7
N&Bs forwards started the game, firing on all cylinders to put the old Reds pack under immediate pressure with powerful scrummaging and a hard hitting back row led by Freddy Ledec and Andre Harvey.
Jamie Pritchard was exellent all afternoon at scrum half providing quick and accurate distribution to his backs that led to three tries in the first ten minutes, one on the wing by Dave (crazy legs) Grigger and two through the impressive inside centre Rob Bower who was playing his first game for N&B.
Young full back James Tobin also got his name on the score sheet after a brilliant counter attacking move which he both started and finished. James?s father Andrew Tobin dusted his boots off to join his son on the field of play for the final 20 minutes and also showed his counter attacking skills with a number of breaks down the wing.
Old Reds came right back into the game through their experienced forwards which led to a converted try bringing the half time score to 22 ? 7.
N&B?s forwards quickly responded after the break with a try by second row forward Pete Thorn following a surging 25 yard driving maul.
With secure set piece possesion, the Nailsea backs combined pace and good handling through out the second half resulting in a further try by Rob Bower to give him a hatrick on his debut.
Inside centre Liam Harris had another great game scoring two tries and kicking four conversions.
Next weeks 3rd team game is away at Chew Valley RFC, kick off at 2.30pm
